Perseverance Fun!

hpim1563.jpghpim1555.jpghpim1551.jpghpim1550.jpg We recently had our third Character Education Program of the year.  This program focused around Perseverance and “Never Giving Up!” We had visits from Rovercomer and Ima (a student of mine).  Rover showed us that perseverance is important when playing sports.  He showed us that you shouldn’t give up just because others are better than you, Rovercomer didn’t give up and he made the basketball team!  Go Rovercomer!  Ima visited us upset because she had failed a test, she was quiting school and giving up.  Ms. Arrington and all the kids of Watwood helped Ima to see that giving up is not going to help.  She just needs to study extra hard and get help from teachers and other students so that she can do better next time.  Thankfully, Ima did not quit after all.  She is sticking it out and working hard to do better next time - Way to show Perseverance Ima!

Kaylen Lowery, a student from the class was able to have a picture drawn by the spectacular French artist Tina LePue.  Tina LePue told Kaylen, “I’m am going to draw a picture of you.”  Kaylen posed for the picture beautifully, while Ms. LePue kept drawing strange pictures.  Finally, Ms. LePue did manage to compose a beautiful picture of the letter, “U”.  Way to be a good sport Kaylen!

3rd Grade is presenting a Christmas program for the December PTO meeting called, “A Sombrero For Santa.”  The children have been working hard for several weeks now learning songs, solos, and speaking parts.  Congratulations to Darius and Rhianna for receiving two of the main parts in the play.  Darius is playing the role of the mayor and Rhianna will be Seniorita Bonita; both parts require a solo.  Way to go guys!  I’m proud of the way all the children have been working hard to make sure our play will be fun and memorable for all.

Character ProgramWatwood’s second Character Education Program has come and gone.  During this prgram we learned how to be a good friend. We learned that a friend is alway honest, fair, and treats others the way they want to be treated.  I have so much fun doing these programs.  The kids enjoy seeing all the fun characters, playing games, and seeing their teacher on stage.  The next program will be after the Christmas break.

Halloween is always a memorable day at school.  The students, teachers, staff…everybody dressed up in costumes makes for a fun day.  In our classroom today we have a football player, spiderman, a genie, a kung fu master, witches, and of course Elvis! No, make that two Elvis’!  I love it when school is a fun learning environment.  Happy Halloween all!

New Blogger on the Block!

New Blogger on the Block! New Blogger on the Block!

Hello!  My name is LeAnn Arrington.  I am a 3rd grade teacher at Watwood Elementary School.  This is my second year at Watwood and I feel blessed everyday that I walk through the doors.  I am surrounded by people who truly love children, are willing to help in any way they can,  and strive to better themselves as well as the children they serve.  It’s my biased opinion, but this is the best school in Talladega County and it is a honor to work here in the midst of such wonderful teachers and colleagues.

I am excited as well as nervous about this, my first blogging experience.   As I learn and grow in the ways of blogging, I hope to use it as a tool to inform parents of upcoming tests or projects as well as to tell of successes as a class along the way.

Ms. Arrington
